So last year my resolution was to start strong do a post every day. That lasted about 3o something posts.

This year I resolved to start slow and build. I skipped the entire first month and will then do once a month, then twice a month, then four times a month, then eight times a month, and 16 times a month and then 32 times a month. Which puts me at about a post a day.

Which is where I wanna be.

See you next month!

Lazy D says hey.

So we moved to Florida for a couple of reasons: we didn't like Atlanta, we wanted to be near water (we are both water signs and grew up near water), we wanted to be near family and we didn't like Atlanta.

Well it turns out, and I suppose I knew this, Jacksonville is a second or third rate Atlanta. Now that can be good in some cases but the problem is that it wants to be Atlanta. And I suspect it will be Atlanta one day.

We settled at the beach because the beach was near water and the least like Atlanta. It's pretty slow, has a community feel, you can ride a bike around not too many big box retailers (though lots of strip malls) and its the beach.

Since I work at the beach as well, I rarely have to cross the *ditch*, as the Jacksonittes so lovely put it. And I am really thankful for that as when ever I do I start to think we made a bad decision moving here. Then once I cross back over the *ditch* to the beach its all better and worth it.

This morning I gave Sharon a lift to pick up a rental car for her work travel. While travelling along GA 400 type road all I could think about was how bad the other drivers wanted to be driving and living a city like Atlanta yet how naive they were to how terrible Atlanta actually is.

Shit, I am just gonna drop this.

Surfing after work today was damn incredible. I almost didn't go out for a couple of reasons but I forced myself and I feel fucking great right now.

I am having a pizza with a Harp, listening to Home Video Project and attempting a livejournal post. This post was prompted by [info]malibran as it seems I wasn't cut during the latest round of his friends list pruning. I wonder if he knows I first friended him because he was a pisces. A number of people on my friends list are there due to their being a pisces.

I always feel good when I make the cut.

Speaking of being a pisces, I just had a my birthday. I was nice. We coined it "Birthday Weekend Extravaganza", cuz that what we do around here at 1911. Friday we went out and got me an iPod Shuffle.

Saturday we went to the Orange Park Dog Track and checked out the Greyhound Races. We did it up and had the buffet and I won $6 on my first bet and lost on all the rest.

For those who visit us here I think the Dog Track is gonna be a destination. Its good stuff if you aren't morally against for some reason. Its like playing cards and having a few drinks with friends.

Sunday we had dinner at an Indian restaurant as that is my favorite cuisine. I had the Malai Kafta, it was very good but nowhere near as good as Madras.

I just had the idea to rename the cats to Mumbo and Jumbo. Brilliant.

Though, it would be hard to let go of 'Lazy D'

So yeah, I can be a bit paranoid. Here's the latest that maybe someone will have some insight into.

So the Fraternal Order of Police keeps calling and asking for a donation. There are a few reason why I will not donate to this group. Here are two.

Growing up a skateboarder I have first-hand experience into how much of a prick police officers can be. It's pretty arbitrary and I am a bit scorned by it. And yes, skateboarders can be pricks too.

So there's that, Another is my suspicion that typically those in law enforcement vote Republican. And those who vote Republican ain't getting a dime from me, cuz they are effectively taking the dime away from everyone else. So fuck em.

So the other night they call and say they are calling on behalf of the Fraternal Order of blah blah blah, I say 'nope'. Excuse me? 'Uh, ain't ever gonna happen.' And then I hang up.

So tonight they call. Again, they are calling on behalf of the Fraternal blah blah blah. I say 'nope'. Then I hear 'This call may be monitored for your protection'.

Whoah!

This is where I need help. Why are they monitoring my calls, why are they required to tell me they are monitoring my calls? What can they do with what I say on these calls?

Fyi, more and more companies are using what you say while you are on hold in their dealings with you. Yep, you heard that correct. When you are on hold that does not mean you are not being listened to and recorded! Yeah, so if you are scheming be careful what you say when you are on hold. Depending on circumstance they might just be using what you say against you.

So my whole point is, does the Patriot Act and its provisions on communications and the sharing of that information come to play here?

When I was a kid I had a certain amount of resentment towards my parents because I never really *got* anything. They weren't big gift givers, even on birthdays and what not. I could have been economic but whatever, I was a kid and I wanted stuff!

And as an adult, I DON'T want stuff. I just don't. Just not a stuff kinda guy. I have stuff, tons of books and magazines and stuff like that. No toys though. No gadgets. (wait, i do have a pedometer and a stud finder for the walls)

So does it work? Tempering your kids stuff and not spoiling them? I was wondering about want the other day and how and if it might be tied to childhood. Are the spoiled children always in need of something new as an adult? Hell, I don't know, my next oldest brother has a garage full of crap and he grew up in the same environment.

If you have any ideas just let me know.

Sharon and I went for a little drive this Saturday to have a look at some cats. These particular cats are a pretty sweet deal. Brother and sister, 5 years old, declawed, don't mind baths (though I'd never bathe a cat), sweet as hell, female is a Maine Coon, free mechanical litter box, waterer and feeder.

I mean, how do we turn that down? We met em and they are too sweet. The current owners (Sharon's coworkers) are allergic and finally have to give them up after trying to deal for 5 years.

Originally I didn't want to do any mp3 posts for my PostADay effort. Well, I got nothing today. Not a thing. So yesterday while looking around SoulSeek for a reggae track for [info]clearwhitespace</lj> I stumbled upon this hip-hopish track [info]very_small</lj> put on a mix tape for me way back when. Memory lane.

Does anyone have any idea why everyone nowadays says "It is what it is"

Is this another "Kick it to the curb" or "Talk to the hand"? Is it a Foxnews thing? Talk radio? Reality TV? Dr. Bill? (Or is it Phil?)

I believe it was this photo where I knew I was on to something with the "Alert" look.

In this photo the look was confirmed. )
